![]() ![]() This study presents an overview and progression of these traditional musical forms of Assam and discusses the different Classical elements within them. ![]() The Ankiya-git rendered in Assam is a distinct form of Vaisnava music that enriched the culture of Assam. Another form of ancient music, prevalent in Assam is Ojapali music. monasteries, which served as the seat of Borgeet practice and promotion of the Vaishnavite movement for socio-religious reform of the society. He also acted as a great patron of this musical form and established Vashnavite. In the later part of the 15th century, Mahapurush Shankardeva composed many Borgeets (devotional songs). There is a longstanding glorious tradition of music in Assam, which began with the Buddhist devotional songs or Charyapada's of the eighth century. Music is the mirror of the life and culture of a society. ![]()
